Food Giveaway Process during the Covid-19 Pandemic
We appreciate your patience as we met this morning to figure out how to continue our important ministry of the Food Giveaway while maintaining social distancing that is crucial for the safety of both those who serve and those who are being served by this ministry. This requires us to do some key things differently in order to help minimize the spread of the Covid-19 virus and help keep our community safe.
So during this season until at least April 19, we will no longer gather together for worship at TAP prior to the Food Giveaway in order to lower the risk of infection and spread of the virus. Instead, you will be asked to line up and stay in your vehicle in order to receive your food. We will lower the risk to you and our workers as well by having the food already bagged rather than you entering the building and selecting the specific food yourself. Each participant will get a variety of breads, pastries, canned foods, and available produce so lining up early will not give you any advantage in selecting what you receive.
Distribution at Food Giveaway will continue to be on Tuesdays from 2:30 PM until 3:30 PM. Each vehicle according to your place in the line will drive up to the door to receive your food. The food will be rolled out in a cart to your vehicle so that YOU can then place your food in your vehicle. Please maintain a safe distance of 5 feet or more from those who are bringing the cart to your vehicle. If you need assistance with loading your bags, please let us know and we will be happy to have someone help. When you have loaded your food, please pull forward to exit so the next vehicle can then approach the door to receive their food.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding as we all move forward in a way that keeps us all safer and healthier. If you have questions, please contact our church office at 260-693-2154. Please feel free also to join us for online worship on our Churubusco United Methodist Church Facebook page (we are live Sundays at 10:30 AM). May God bless you during this season with faith, hope, and love in Jesus Christ.
